Two Butler County school districts will welcome students back to class on Wednesday.
It’s the first day of school for students in the South Butler County School District. This year, the district will begin utilizing metal detectors in each of the district’s four school buildings. The district has purchased and received nine portable detectors. Students will be instructed on the machines and new procedures over the next few days, and will actually begin walking through the detectors next week.
Students in the Allegheny-Clarion (AC) Valley School District will also return to classes on Wednesday. The district hopes to get off to a smoother start than last year when administrators were forced to cancel five consecutive school days following the first day of class due to water service problems caused by multiple line leaks.
