The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-5 in 11-innings last night. Former Pirate Sean Rodriguez hit a walk-off home run against reliever Michael Feliz in the bottom of the 11th. The Bucs had led 4-2 in the eighth inning when the Phillies hit two home runs off reliever Richard Rodriguez. Bryce Harper hit a solo home run with two outs and another former Pirate, Corey Dickerson, hit a two-run home run to give the Phillies a 5-4 lead. The Bucs tied the game in the ninth when Josh Bell hit his 33rd home run of the year. Bell now has 104 RBI’s this season.
Pirates starting pitcher Joe Musgrove allowed two runs on five hits over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.
The Pirates had 13 hits in the game. Kevin Newman, Bryan Reynolds, Colin Moran, Melky Cabrera and Adam Frazier had two hits each.
The Bucs and Phillies play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. Steven Brault will start for the Pirates.
Since being released by the Pirates so that he could join the Atlanta Braves, catcher Francisco Cervelli has three doubles and a triple.
