The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-2 last night at the Consol Energy Center. Sidney Crosby extended his scoring streak to 11 games with two goals and four points in the game. Pens goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 36 of 38 shots after struggling through his previous two games, which included being pulled during last Friday’s game in Tampa Bay. The Pens host the New York Rangers Wednesday.
John Gibson from Whitehall was Anaheim’s starting goaltender. Gibson made the All-Star game in January, but was pulled in the third period last night after allowing all six of the Penguins goals.
Evgeni Malkin missed his third consecutive game with an injury last night. He is listed as day-to-day.
Sidney Crosby was named the NHL’s first star of the week after he led the league with five goals and three assists last week in the Penguins three games following the All-Star break. Crosby was not named to the All-Star team this year.
