A local municipality is receiving a large state grant.
Jackson Township will receive nearly $49,000 from the Department of Community and Economic Development. This will help offset the costs from the recent merger of the Harmony and Zelienople Volunteer Fire Departments.
The money is being distributed from the Municipal Assistance Program. This is the same program to award a $15,000 grant to Butler Township Volunteer Fire District 3 for their recent merger.
These funds will be used to reimburse the township for the cost of equipment upgrades and rebranding. The Harmony and Zelienople Volunteer Fire Department serves those boroughs as well as Jackson and Lancaster Townships.
