The Kean Quest Talent Competition is once again underway.
The youth category, for those 18-and-under kicked off Sunday. The finals for the youth will be held on April 1st, 2016. The adult category, for those 19-and-older, will begin on April 15th.
The first preliminary round took place on Sunday, February 7, 2016. All competition will be at the Kean Theatre at St. Barnabas in Gibsonia.
Shelli Sommariva, Director of Development of St. Barnabas Charities told WISR’s Dave Malarkey on his radio program It’s Your Turn that this is the 14th year for the competition.
Sommariva says the event started as a small talent competition, by a trustee of the St. Barnabas, as a fundraiser. The contest included, at that time, people competing with a variety of skills. The rules have changes over the years to now focus the competition on being strictly a singing contest.
This competition has attracted individuals as far away as Ohio and West Virginia.
