Boys Basketball: Springdale-41 Karns City-38.

The WPIAL Class Triple-A Team Wrestling playoffs: Kiski Area defeated Butler 58-15 in the first round. Kiski then went on to defeat Shaler 54-12 in the quarterfinal round. Seneca Valley defeated Connellsville 36-17 in the first round, but were eliminated by Belle Vernon 57-9 in the quarterfinals.
Non-section results: Knoch-63 Highlands-6. Armstrong-52 Ellwood City-15.
The Butler High School Boys Bowling team swept Armstrong 7-0 Wednesday at Family Bowlaway. Nick Huff led all bowlers with a 651 series, which included a high game of 275. Matt Wetzel added a 611 series and a high game of 212. Shawn Marcellus also rolled a 212 game. Devin Thompson led Armstrong with a 575 series.
Butler improved to 8-1 overall and is now tied with Armstrong for first place in the WPIBL Section 2. The Butler Boys lead Armstrong in total points 54-50 and have an opportunity to clinch the section next week at Karns City. Both teams have clinched a spot in the WPIBL Team Championships.

The Butler Girls Bowlers lost to Armstrong 5-2. Ashley McCue led Butler with a 535 series. Mercedes Belch added a 520 series and high game of 203. Olivia Emmonds led Armstrong with a 586 series and high game of 222. Alexa Emmonds added a 566 series. Butler falls to 6-3 overall. Butler can still clinch a WPIBL Team Championships berth next week at Karns City.
