The process of hiring an assistant manager for Butler Township is moving on to the interview phase.
Township Manager Ed Kirkwood informed the board of commissioners during a meeting Monday that he has evaluated the 48 applications he received for the position.
Nineteen have been selected for interviews with Kirkwood, which will take place over the span of four days during the third week of February. An undetermined number will receive a second interview, at which time the township commissioners may sit in on the process.
Kirkwood is working with the township solicitor to revise the ordinance that would allow the assistant to perform manager duties when the manager is unavailable. Kirkwood hopes to have the candidate in place to begin a 12-month probationary period April 1.
