Butler City’s Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority is taking action to combat an ongoing goose problem.
The authority recently purchased a set of three dog decoys for about $130 in an attempt to deter the birds from calling Kelly Automotive Park home.
After trying other techniques to encourage roughly a dozen geese to leave the park in recent years, a recommendation from the Butler Transit Authority has led to the dog silhouette strategy.
The decoys are expected to arrive next month and be deployed in the infield and outfield to minimize the health hazard of a large amount of goose droppings.
