Butler’s ballpark is getting a new pitching mound courtesy of a generous donation.
Stadium Manager Larry Sassone told the Butler City Parks, Recreation Grounds, and Facilities Authority that he purchased The Perfect Mound for use at Kelly Automotive Park.
Sassone is using $11,500 of his own money to purchase the mound and it is expected to arrive in the near future. Sassone explained that he has been aware of the need for several years as those using the field often complain about the condition of the mound.
Sassone observed The Perfect Mound at a recent trade show and believes that it will be a safer and more durable alternative to the mound that has been in place.
