Members of the Slippery Rock University track and field teams took three of the four weekly honors handed out this week by the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tuesday. The Rock swept the women’s weekly awards with Sabrina Anderson from Warren, Pa. earning the Field Athlete of the Week honor and Leah Anne Wirfel of Portage, Pa. being named the Track Athlete of the Week. Ryan Thompson, from Slippery Rock high school was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week to give SRU three of the four weekly winners. Thompson won the mile at the Al Hall Freedom games at Ednboro last weekend and posted the fastest time in the PSAC so for this year. It was his first career PSAC Athlete of the Week honor. Thompson finished the mile just under 4:19.
