The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Butler is holding an executive session meeting next week about their budget problems.
The meeting will take place at noon on Friday, January 22 at the law offices of Dillon, McCandless, King, Coulter, and Graham in Butler. No official action is expected to be taken immediately following the meeting.
In examining an outline of a proposed budget for 2016, the board learned that due to lost income from grants over several years, the authority is carrying over $92,000 in debt into this year. According to Solicitor Tom King, an unbalanced budget cannot be approved and immediate action needs to be taken to address loans in default and outstanding payroll expenses.
The authority has been making progress with their finances over the past year and Solicitor King says the situation can be remedied but it must be done in the right way and as soon as possible.
