The South Butler School District has added their approval to the plan to close the Clarence C. Brown Education Center.
The board voted at their meeting Wednesday to move ahead with the closure due to low enrollment. The closure is recommended by the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, who runs the school. The facility provides alternative and emotional support for special needs students.
The school boards of the other four districts with students at the school (Mars, Karns City, Moniteau and Seneca Valley) have already agreed to the closure.
South Butler currently has two students at the school, one of whom is graduating. South Butler administrators will explore options for next year including Butler School District’s Center Avenue Community School.
