A retiring local police chief was honored by the Mars Area School Board Tuesday night.
Board President Dayle Ferguson, along with other board members and administrators, thanked Adams Township Chief Bill Westerman for his leadership, wisdom, and commitment to safety. Westerman attended the meeting with his wife.
The board also gave Westerman a small Mars School District-themed gift and delivered a large box full of cards made for the chief by Mars elementary school students.
Westerman is retiring from the Adams Township Police Force Friday after 33 years.
