The Clarence Brown Community School in Butler may be on the verge of closing.
It was announced at Tuesday’s Mars school board meeting that the school could close at the end of the current school year because of declining enrollment. The Mars board voted to approve the closing. The other four school districts that have students at the center will have to approve it as well.
Clarence Brown is run by the Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 and provides emotional support and life skill services to Butler County students with disabilities. Students from five school districts in the county attend the school.
We reached out to officials at MIU4 for comment but are still waiting to hear back.
