Butler Area School District has received money owed to it by the state.
According to Director of Business Services Deborah Brandstetter, the district received a wire transfer for nearly $19.4 million from the state treasury earlier today.
The amount is a slight increase over the money the district was allotted last year by this point in the year but largely in line. This dispersal of funds follows a decision by Governor Tom Wolf last week to line item veto a budget bill sent to him by the state legislature.
The district did take action to open a line of credit in case the money was not released and will owe fees to lawyers who reviewed those documents. It is not known if the state will reimburse that expense.
