Route 422 was shut down for a while yesterday after a tractor trailer went over the hillside.
State police say the accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Route 422 eastbound between the Mitchell Hill and Jefferson Street exits.
A tractor trailer driven by 37-year-old Ryan Kimmel of Johnstown tried to pass a car driven by 47-year-old Gregory Ostwinch of Butler. Kimmel’s truck then hit the car, and the collision sent the tractor trailer into the guardrail and over the hillside.
Kimmel was taken to Allegheny General Hospital via ambulance for his injuries—the severity of those injuries are unknown. Ostwinch was not injured in the accident.
