Slippery Rock University has named a familiar face to take over their football program.
Long time Assistant Coach Shawn Lutz was named Head Coach on Friday. He takes over for former coach George Mihalik, who spent the last 28 years as Head Coach.
Lutz, 42, has been involved with the SRU program for nearly 20 years, starting off as a Graduate Assistant. He has spent the last nine years as Defensive Coordinator for the Green and White, and has severed as Associate Head Coach for the last four. He will continue to coach the defensive line, in addition to his new position.
Coach Lutz will officially take over the program on January 16th, 2016.
