A local organization is once again looking for people willing to share some holiday cheer with those who might otherwise be forgotten.
Robin Taylor, Director of Public Relations for St. Barnabas Health System, explains Presents for Patients.
“The program is all about making people in nursing homes and assisted living facilities feel loved,” Taylor says. “What we do is we match the patients there with people who will come and visit them and give them gifts.”
St. Barnabas Charities has been operating the Presents for Patients program for 32 years.
Over 200 facilities and 11,000 patients are participating this year and time is what is most needed from volunteers.
“The whole idea is for people to come and make these people feel good and feel loved and feel like they matter at Christmas time because Christmas can be a very lonely time of year for the elderly,” Taylor said.
Those interested and able can also contribute money. Visit presentsforpatients.com for more information.
