A northeastern Pennsylvania prosecutor announced Tuesday he’ll seek the Democratic nomination for state Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s job.
Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli plans to begin his campaign early next year. He’s been the county’s chief law enforcement officer for 24 years.
Meanwhile, Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala Jr. plans to announce his candidacy Wednesday in Pittsburgh.
Kane wants a second term but acknowledged she might not be eligible. The state Supreme Court suspended her law license indefinitely as she fights criminal charges she leaked secret grand jury material and lied about it.
