Butler Township is making plans to address an ongoing storm water issue following concerns expressed by local residents.
After a resident complained at a public commissioners meeting for the second consecutive month about frequent flooding at 133 Arlington Avenue near the intersection with Ferguson Avenue, township officials provided an update.
According to Butler Township Solicitor Rebecca Black, a plan to address overflowing storm sewers in the area is being formulated but the repairs needed are extensive and expensive. For this reason, it is anticipated that the project will not begin until the summer of 2020.
Butler Township Manager Tom Knights further explained that the township has directed Gateway Engineering to do a site visit next week as part of the process to determine the details of the project. An existing 36-inch line will need to be replaced as well as several 15-inch lines that all converge in that area.
This is not a new problem, according to officials, but the commissioners expressed a desire for improved communication between township administrators and those affected by this storm water project.
