The CEO of the Butler YMCA will retire in the spring.
Bill Kunert officially announced his retirement Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the YMCA Board of Directors meeting.
Kunert has worked for the organization for 40 years and served as Chief Executive Officer for the last 4 years. Kunert once worked as YMCA Program Director in Bellevue, PA and was District Vice President for the YMCA of Pittsburgh prior to his tenure in Butler.
Kunert re-established working committees within the board of directors ensured engagement with volunteers, helped recast the board development committee focusing things like recruitment, training, and developing an effective and diverse volunteer board. He worked with the planning committee developing and implementing the Real Time Strategic Plan to further the YMCA’s mission.
Jim Druschel, board president, said “Bill Kunert helped restore our YMCA’s reputation in the community by advocating the YMCA vision – mission, goals and values. He effectively established a culture of inclusion, integrity, character and lifelong learning within our YMCA.”
Kunert will remain as CEO through Spring 2016 to help with the transition to a new chief executive. The Board of Director’s executive committee is working on plans for filling the CEO position.
