(8 a.m. Wednesday): More than 6,200 power customers in Butler County are without power Wednesday morning following outages reported by both West Penn Power and Central Electric Cooperative.
The CEC outage occurred late Tuesday night. CEC was reporting roughly 2,660 customers were still in the dark as of 5 a.m. Wednesday. The majority of the outages are in Clearfield Township (1,000) and Summit Township (800). Other outages are in Donegal, Oakland and Winfield townships.
It’s unclear what caused the outages. CEC said early Wednesday that a crew has been assigned to the area and was working on repairs.
West Penn Power began reporting outages on Wednesday morning.
About 7 a.m., West Penn said about 3,500 customers in Cranberry Township were without power.
It’s unclear what’s causing the outages.
West Penn says crews have been dispatched and they hope to have power restored by 10 a.m.
