The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-1 last night to begin a four-game road trip. It was the Penguins first victory in San Jose in 12 tries, or since 1997. Phil Kessel scored twice, Evgeni Malkin, Matt Cullen and David Perron added goals for the Pens, who also snapped a two-game losing streak. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 33 of 34 shots on goal for his 12th win of the season.
Head coach Mike Johnston reunited Sidney Crosby with old linemates Chris Kunitz and Pascal Dupuis, but the combination did not complete the game. Dupuis left during the second period for an unknown reason.
