Deer hunters will notice something new when they head into the woods this year.
Bright yellow-and-green signs have been placed in sections of state game lands where there will likely be a healthy population of deer.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been working in specific areas to restore forest vegetation that attracts deer. The commission hopes that by marking more than 30 areas across the state it will draw more hunters to spots where they’re likely to see more deer.
Rifle deer season opens today (Monday). It will run through Dec. 12.
