AAA Travel estimates nearly 47 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home, the highest total in seven years. The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission expects the heaviest traffic volume between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday
One big reason is gasoline prices, which are at their lowest levels since 2008. Prices in our area are hovering around $2.30 this week, down from $3.02 this time last year (according to fuel analysts at GasBuddy.com).
