Butler County will be ending their contract with the Irene Stacy Community Mental Health Center next month.
According to Butler County Human Services Director Joyce Ainsworth, the county is ending the relationship with the agency on December 31st after Irene Stacy announced earlier this week that they are beginning bankruptcy proceedings.
The county has previously worked in a different capacity with a Washington County based agency called Southwest Pennsylvania Human Services and that agency is expected to help with the transition. Service to consumers is not expected to be disrupted.
The Butler County Human Services press release says that the county has long been aware of the financial struggles of Irene Stacy and tried to assist by backfilling losses and funding consultants but advice about making significant changes was not followed.
