It’s time to buy the bird for Thanksgiving next week, but some people are wondering if there will be a shortage of turkeys this year.
Carol Bitter, owner of Friedman’s Freshmarkets, says there has not been a case of the Avian bird flu in Pennsylvania. It was earlier this year when the illness hit other parts of the country. Along with eggs, many birds had to be destroyed because of the illness.
So, as people look for turkey for their Thanksgiving meal, many are wondering if there will be enough to go around. According to Carol, referring to Friedmans, turkey will be available. She says there will be enough for a family to buy one or even two if desired.
While you may find a few turkeys that are larger than 20lbs for your dinner, you’ll find likely find many more that are smaller in size.
