A local business owner has been recognized for his years of supporting the Butler community.
During Tuesday’s Butler City Council meeting, Butler City Solicitor Tom Breth presented Denny Offstein with a certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.
“This is presented to Denny Offstein to honor him for his work and dedication to the city of Butler through the annual Bicycle Rodeo,” Breth said.
The certificate was signed by U.S. Congressman Mike Kelly, of Butler.
Volunteers and organizers of the rodeo also presented Offstein with a digital photo frame containing about 170 photos from the event.
Offstein said the rodeo takes a tremendous amount of work and time, as well as expense. However, he never lost sight of the focus of this event.
“It’s all about the kids,” Offstein said Tuesday. “When you ride around town, you see the kids riding the bikes.”
Offstein says he still has lots of bikes and people still drop them off with him, but that it is time for someone else to step up and lead the rodeo if it is to continue.
