New VA Butler Healthcare Director David Cord believes that his experience will help in this time of transition.
“I know enough about the facility from having worked here in the past. I know about the community. I’m a veteran myself so I’m very invested in the stakeholders and in the veterans and making sure that this comes to fruition and we have the best possible environment for care for our veterans and that’s where we’re headed.”
Today (Monday) is Cord’s first day on the job. Cord is an Air Force veteran and most recently led the Erie VA Medical Center. He will now be responsible for the delivery of health care to approximately 19,000 veterans in our area.
Cord says that there is a process that the current facility will go through once the new one is complete in two to two and a half years.
“We will explore all options for what we can do with building 1 on the main campus. We will leave no stone unturned. It’s a nice building, it’s a great location. We have a process that we go through in the federal government when it comes to leaving one property or one building and relocating at least a portion of our services to another site.”
Cord will host a Town Hall this evening from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at VA Butler Healthcare to introduce himself to the community and answer any questions.
