An upcoming program aims to give facts about the possible legalization of recreational marijuana so people can make informed decisions.
The program will take place on Tuesday, June 4 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Succop Theater on the main campus of Butler County Community College in Butler Township.
“Our position is not a position, at-this-point,” Beth Neveux, a supervisor with the Butler County Drug and Alcohol Programs, said in an interview. The group is organizing the presentation. “We know this is a very controversial subject. We want to share some facts and maybe slow down the process so that we can be prepared.”
The keynote speaker of the evening is Dale Quigley, who is the Deputy coordinator of the National Marijuana Initiative for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Initiative Program.
This event will also include a panel discussion with law enforcement and recovery experts, including Butler County District Attorney Rich Goldinger.
Those unable to attend on Tuesday are welcome to see the same program on Wednesday at New Castle High School in Lawrence County.
