Communities across the county marked Memorial Day over the weekend with various parades and ceremonies.
The annual Memorial Day parade was held in downtown Butler on Monday morning. It began with a horse-drawn carriage bearing a funeral casket with a flag draped over it. It continued with marching veterans, VA staff, JROTC members, the Butler Golden Tornado Marching Band, police and firefighters.
Hundreds of people packed both sides of Main Street to remember the fallen and mark the day. Following the parade, a program was held in Diamond Park.
