A former North Allegheny High School rowing coach could spend the next 8 to 23 months in jail for having sex with a student.
Megan Batykefer was sentenced Tuesday by an Allegheny County Judge. She does remain free on bond while her lawyer pursues an appeal.
Police say Batykefer began having sex with the 18-year-old student in April 2014. Even though the relationship was allegedly consensual and the student was an adult, state law prohibits school employees from having sex with students even if they’re older than 18.
