A unique, local program for veterans is looking for new members.
The group is called Veteran X and is a voluntary, peer-led program run by veterans for veterans. Its focus is to empower the veteran to take an active role in choosing your treatment goals and finding solution to common problems.
How it works: Veterans work with other veterans as a treatment team for a fictitious Veteran ‘X’ who has an abundance of challenges similar to your own. These challenges are presented in the form of a ‘scenario’ and may include things like unemployment, homelessness, financial hardships, family issues, mental health, addiction, etc. As a group, you navigate the many challenging obstacles on the path to recovery in a supportive and collaborated environment with other Veterans. In helping Veteran ‘X’, you and the groups members help one another and ultimately yourself.
If you’re interested in joining the Veteran X Group, you’re encouraged to stop by VA Butler Healthcare on Monday nights at 6 p.m. in the main building canteen dining room.
All veterans are welcome.
