PIAA Boys Soccer playoffs last night: The Seneca Valley Boys defeated State College 5-1 last night in Altoona. They will meet Canon McMillan in the Triple-A state quarterfinals Saturday.
In Double-A: Mars defeated Bradford 5-0. They advance into the quarterfinals Saturday against South Park.
The Karns City Boys were knocked out of the Single-A state playoffs by Sewickley Academy 5-0.
In the PIAA Girls Soccer first round:
The Karns City Girls moved on to the quarterfinals Saturday with a 3-2 win over Shady Side Academy. The Gremlins will face Greensburg Central Catholic at a site to be determined.
Seneca Valley fell to Norwin 3-2 in double overtime.
Mercyhurst Prep eliminated the WPIAL champion Mars Girls 1-0 in Double-A.
In the PIAA Girls Volleyball opening round: Freeport defeated the North East Grape Pickers 3-2 last night in a match played at Seneca Valley high school. The Yellow Jackets will meet Somerset this Saturday in the Double-A state quarterfinals.
