The Mayor of the City of Butler is once again asking local non-profit organizations to contribute to the city’s finances.
Earlier this week Mayor Tom Donaldson mailed letters to 43 non-profit agencies and organizations located within Butler requesting that they donate to the 2016 city budget.
The letter says that 30% of the property in the city is tax exempt and that property has an assessed value of about $30 million. The city’s budget is currently $8 million and $2 million comes from property tax revenue.
A similar request to the same groups last year resulted in eight organizations donating a total of $7,300.
