The Slippery Rock University football team convincingly beat host Edinboro on Saturday by a final of 52-10.
Slippery Rock, who was ranked 13th nationally and tied for first in the PSAC-West, totaled 600 yards of offense in the win. Those leading the offensive effort were quarterback Dante Nania, who threw for 169 yards and three touchdowns on 16 completions, and running backs Julian Durden (113 yards and one touchdown on ten carries) and Shamar Greene (105 yards and one touchdown).
Defensively for The Rock, they were lead by defensive back Alfon Cook, who led the team in tackles with nine. Butler graduate Bob Vernick added seven tackles, and defensive back Deonte Flemnings added six tackles and one interception.
The Rock will be back in action for a big game on Saturday when they host Clarion University. Not only will it be Senior Day for SRU, but with a win, the Green and White will win their third straight PSAC-West Title, and fourth in the last five years.
