Lawmakers are asking for more money to be distributed through the federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
U.S. Senator Bob Casey said Thursday that Pennsylvania is only scheduled to get enough assistance money to help a quarter of the 1.5 million eligible Pennsylvanians.
LIHEAP is distributed through states on a first come, first serve basis for eligible residents. Monday is the start of the LIHEAP application season.
People can sign up at state Department of Human Services offices or through the state’s Compass web program.
