A downed, live wire forced crews to close a portion of Route 422 in Butler Township Wednesday.
According to Butler Township Police, a wire fell across all four lanes of Route 422 (just west of the Jefferson Street on-ramps) at 7:45 p.m.
When police and firefighters arrived, they discovered the 25K volt transmission line was live. It had also energized the guide rails on both sides of the highway.
All four lanes of Route 422 were closed between North Main and Jefferson streets until power crews could disable and remove the wire.
The road reopened at 9 p.m.
