As students prepare to head home for the summer, Slippery Rock University has been named one of the safest colleges in the country.
The recognition came from the National Council for Home Safety and Security, which compared 490 schools using FBI crime data, local law enforcement reports and police adequacy.
Uniformed officers with the SRU Police Department regularly patrol campus and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The school also has “Blue Light Safety Stations” located across campus and safety call boxes located in all academic buildings. Both provide students, faculty and staff with immediate access to a police dispatcher in the event of an emergency.
