The City of Butler is once again considering the possibility of selling or leasing their parking to a third party company.
Butler City Council voted unanimously during a meeting Tuesday to hire a consultant to appraise and develop a marketing plan for the city’s parking system.
Mirus Consultants of Lancaster will be paid $7,500 by the city to do the work, which will take at least three months to complete.
Councilman Jeff Smith said a number of parties have expressed interest in the city’s parking assets over the past several years. Mirus was chosen after a meeting with their representatives and as a result of their expertise and connections in the parking industry.
“This doesn’t mean we’re going to sell the system,” Smith said Tuesday. “We may sell part of it, all of it, or none of it.”
A Mirus representative will be asked to provide regular updates to the city on the progress of the valuation process.
