A Butler County runner died Sunday after collapsing near the finish line of a popular Pittsburgh race.
According to our news partners at WPXI-TV, 32-year-old Michael Kovacic of Cranberry Township suffered an “episode” and was transported to UPMC Presbyterian during the EQT Pittsburgh 10-Miler. He died a short time later.
A cause of death was not immediately known. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
Paramedics treated 23 runners at the race Sunday.
The course started near Pittsburgh’s Station Square and stretched through the West End, the North Side and the Strip District, before finishing downtown.
