James C. Smith, 70, of Prospect, PA, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born August 23, 1945 in Oil City, PA, the son of the late James Boyd Smith and the late Dorothy B. (Sullinger) Smith.
James retired from MSA-Callery Chemical and Marshall Security. He enjoyed hunting, camping, biking, making maple syrup, and his ham radio. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.
Surviving are his wife, Linda L. (Welsbacher) Smith whom he married November 7, 1970: 2 daughters, Sarah Smith and her husband Jim of Portersville, Emily (Jonathan) Kline of Butler, 2 sons, James Paul (Cindy) Smith of Renfrew, Russell Smith of Portersville, 6 grandchildren, Meganne, Heidi, Jorja, Jack, Brooklyn, and Cambria.
He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, and 1 brother.
Friends will be received at the Church of God at Connoquenessing, 1247 Evans City Rd., Connoquenessing, PA, on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 6-8 PM and on Monday from 10 until time of service at 12 noon.
Interment in the Greenlawn Burial Estates, Butler, PA.
Military honors at cemetery by VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778.
