County-owned Alameda Park will soon have a mountain bike trail.
The Butler County Commissioners have approved spending about $16,000 on the project so far. The trail will be located behind the Oddfellow’s Shelter and could include up to 13 miles once fully completed. The first five miles will be done during the beginning phase of the project.
The money is coming from the county’s Legacy Fund and from several grants.
County Parks and Recreation Director Gray Pinkerton says he hopes the new attraction will bring even more people into what he called an under-utilized portion of the park.
The park is located in Butler Township off New Castle Road.
