NASCAR will reduce the number of potential green-white-checkered restarts from three to one this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Both Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series race and Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series Camping World-dot-com 500 will implement just one double-file restart to finish the race in overtime. NASCAR rules call for up to three attempts at a green-white-checkered finish, but the change for Talladega’s doubleheader comes after recent multiple attempts at both the Alabama oval and Daytona International Speedway resulted in crashes. There are forty-five drivers on the preliminary entry list for Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race including defending winner Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Junior, who won this year’s first race back on May 3rd . It’s the final event in the Contender Round of the post-season Chase, after which the title field will be trimmed from twelve to eight. Hear Sunday’s Cup race on WBUT 1050am beginning at 1:30pm.
