Two people were killed in a plane crash near Penn State’s Main Campus.
The crash happened Wednesday afternoon and involved a single-engine Cessna plane that crashed into the side of a mountain, according to Centre Daily Times.
The plane had taken off from the University Park Airport in State College but there are some conflicting reports on where it was headed. The FAA said the plane was heading to Burlington, Vermont but the website FlightAware.com (which tracks flights nationwide) had the plane landing at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport.
It’s unclear what went wrong. Crews reportedly spent over an hour initially searching for the crash site amid heavy fog. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.
