The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Texas Rangers 6-4 in 11-innings last night to snap an eight-game losing streak. The Bucs were trailing 3-0 entering the ninth inning last night, when they mounted a comeback.
Outfielder Bryan Reynolds hit his first major league home run to give the Bucs a 4-3 lead in the 11th. Starling Marte returned from the disabled list and added a two-run shot later in the inning. Marte had been on the 10-day injury list after the collision with shortstop Erik Gonzalez.
Reynolds now has at least a hit in his first eight major league games.
Another game. Another injury for the Pirates. Catcher Francisco Cervelli was hit in the wrist with a pitch in the second inning and had to leave the game.
The Bucs and Rangers complete their two-game series today at 2:05pm. WISR pre-game begins at 1:40pm.
Jameson Taillon will start for the Pirates. He is 1-3 with a 4.06 ERA this season. Shelby Miller will start for Texas. Miller is 1-1 with a 7.52 ERA for the Rangers.
