As many high schools prepare for prom season, some Butler County school districts are holding “mock accidents” to give students an up-close-and-personal look at the potential effects of drinking and driving.
Juniors and seniors at Mars Area High School took part in the mock accident assembly Tuesday morning in the school’s auditorium parking lot. School officials say the assembly was designed to resemble a real accident in every aspect to demonstrate the serious consequences of drinking and driving.
Local firefighters, police, the Butler County Coroner, Life Flight and EMS workers were all involved in the accident aftermath.
A similar mock crash event is planned for Wednesday at 9 a.m. on the campus of Seneca Valley Senior High School in Jackson Township.
