The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks following a 5-0 loss Thursday afternoon at PNC Park. It was the Pirates fifth consecutive loss, dropping their record to 12-11. Arizona starting pitcher Zack Greinke held the Pirates to two hits over seven innings, striking out seven. Pirates starter Jameson Taillon allowed all five runs to the Diamondbacks in five innings. His record fell to 1-3.
The Pirates open a three-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. First pitch is 10:10pm. Pre-game on WISR is 9:45pm. Chris Archer will start for the Bucs tonight.
Saturday’s game with Los Angeles will begin at 9:10pm. WISR pre-game is 8:45pm. Sunday’ game begins at 4:05pm. WISR air-time is 3:05pm with the Neil Huntington Show.
Shortstop Erik Gonzalez had shoulder surgery Thursday, and will remain out of the Pirates lineup 10-12 weeks. His replacement, rookie Cole Tucker, had two of the Pirates five hits from the lead-off spot Thursday in the loss to Arizona.
