The Pittsburgh Pirates had a five-game winning streak last week. This week they are in the midst of a four-game losing streak, and will have to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon to avoid a four-game series sweep. Arizona defeated the Pirates 11-2 last night. Pirates starting pitcher Jordan Lyles allowed five runs, four earned over five innings last night. The Diamondbacks pounded 15 hits off Lyles, Nick Kingham and Steven Brault.
The Pirates had nine hits of their own, but stranded eight. Josh Bell hit his fifth home run of the season. Jung Ho Kang hit his fourth.
The two teams wrap up their series today at 12:35pm. Jameson Taillon will start for the Pirates. Zach Greinke will start for Arizona. The Bucs are two games behind St. Louis in the National League Central.
