A nationwide effort targeting commercial child sex trafficking yielded 25 arrests and the rescue of three potential victims in Western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.
The effort was called Operation Cross Country and took place in 135 cities across the country. Locally, efforts were conducted in Pittsburgh, Erie, Green Tree, Greensburg, and Wheeling, West Virginia. The FBI did not release the suspects’ names and where they were arrested.
Nationwide, more than 500 federal, state and local law enforcement officials visited hotels, casinos, truck stops and other areas known to be frequented by prostitutes, sex-traffickers and their customers.
Nationally, 149 victims or potential victims were rescued. The youngest was 12.
